Back home from FurFright. FurFright is the one convention I go to each year that I don't work on. This, of course, doesn't stop folks from asking me to work on it. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, www.furfright.org is the web site. Got down there friday. First longish drive on a car I just bought the day before. Crossed my fingers, and I guess it worked, no problems with the car. Unfortunately, I did catch a nice case of con crud. Saturday I was slowly feeling less and less good, as the congestion built in my lungs, and my sinuses overflowed. Not sure if I brought it to the con, or got it at the con, not that it really matters. Still coughing and sniffling now. *ugh* One of the new things I did at the con was play a game of texas holdup poker. I had heard that it was very popular, and at least two individuals had brought chipsets to the convention and were playing in the game room. ( No real money, just playing for chips.) There were several games over the course of the weekend that I saw, and probably several more that I didn't. Next year I'll try to remember to bring my blackjack kit and maybe deal a few games of blackjack for folks who are interested. I also played a few games of Munchkin, which were quite enjoyable. SOmeone had brought a fiendish torture device disguised as a toy as well. It has four handles with a button, that each player holds onto. The led flashes red and plays a tune, then the led turns green and a different tone sounds. Then each player presses the button on their handle. The one who got it last, or pressed it before it turns green, gets a nice electrical shock from the handle. Molded into the plastic on the bottom of the thing was the warning. " THis is not a toy." Damn right it isn't a toy. Shocking unsuspecting victims with this thing became a rather popular pastime in the game room. Halloween was exceptionally nice weather this year, 70s here near Boston. Turnout at the house was even lower this year than last year was, even though last year the weather was rather colder. ONly had four parties of kids visit the house, all of them accompanied by paranoid parents. I miss the old halloween, when the kids went out with their friends, not their parents. *sighs*
