New car. . . sorta.
Oct. 26th, 2005 06:07 pmBought a used volvo wagon today. 228k miles on the clock, but it runs and I could afford it. *crosses fingers* Guy I bought it from says I will need brake work in a few thousand miles, and ought to buy some snow tires for the winter, since it's a rear wheel drive. So I guess I'll be down for FurFright after all. ANyone else going? See you there.
The insurance company called thisafternoon as well. They decided that it was 100% the other drivers fault, so that unblocks the money for the rental car and for payment on totalling my car. The nice lady talked me through this complex mathematical formula for determining the value of my former car. Most of the math was, of course, subtraction. Giving me a check for about one third the blue book value of the car, plus whatever pittance I can get from a junkyard for it. *sighs* Not to mention that the repair shop told me that I had to pay a $25 per day storage fee on my car. Sheesh! They did tell me that the insurance should cover it, but if they denied it, they would come after me for the remainder. Anyway, my car is now back in my driveway, gotta unload all my crap from it and shop it around to the junkyards for the best price I can get. Tomorrow, after work, while I'm packing for furfright.
