Dad's health continues to deteriorate.

Dad's back in the hospital again. He continues to deterioriate mentally and physically. He is barely eating, and isn't drinking enough to keep him hydrated. He's lost 18 pounds in the last month. Mentally, he recognizes people, and sometimes follows commands, but is unable to do more than a partial sentence and then something completely unrelated comes out next. This is a sudden major change, it was only about six weeks ago that he was taking care of himself, managing his own meds, and driving himself for errands around town like shopping and so on.
This hospitalization he has had abdominal and chest CT scans, and a endoscopy. They found a hiatal hernia, but that would not explain his symptoms. Something weird did show up on his bladder, and we are waiting for a urologist to consult on that, but otherwise these tests are normal for his age. So, we are still chasing question marks healthwise.
His state is such that he can't live at home with just my mom and me to take care of him. I don;t know what we are going to do now. My brother flew in this morning from Seattle to visit and do some work on the house to retrofit the first floor bathroom with a walk in tub so mom and dad can live entirely on the first floor if needed.
Life goes on. Despite snowstorm and broken snowblower. *sighs*
