More personal angsting and venting here. Don't feel obligated to read the rest of it.

So... Today they moved my dad up to the intensive care unit. Postponed the MRI of his head that was scheduled for today. They think he aspirated some of his food and gunked up his lungs even worse than his asthma and five days confined to bed already had them. They put him on oxygen, and he is much much better mentally with that. When I visited late this afternoon, he recognized me, and was able to speak a lot better. Still not making coherent conversation, but is able to ask for things and respond to requests from the nurses and PCAs.

But we are still treating symptoms, haven't found the cause of his sudden deterioration. There is the bladder thing that could be something, but the urologist doesn't think it's a cancer, and doesn't feel that chasing that down is urgent enough to do now. Like to get the brain scan done, as that is a potential cause. They are gonna retest his urine for infection, in case the UTI he got treated for last week might have been resistant and has come back. *sighs* Still chasing question marks, which is frustrating and disheartening. Dammit, I want my dad back!

We had a snowstorm saturday. Went and picked up my brother Wesley who flew in from seattle to help out and do some remodeling of the first floor bathroom to install the walk in tub my mom bought. Snow was wet and heavy, and the snowblower crapped out after running for about a minute. So, gonna call a plow company to come clear our driveway tomorrow, and come do it for the snowstorm coming tuesday. Predictions are for anywhere from 12-36 inches. Our home is on the edge of one zone that is 12-24 inches, and another that is 20-30 inches, so I expect that we will be stuck home tuesday.

Went out today, brought the snowblower to the repair shop, which was open today due to the sudden influx of broken snowblowers with the first plowable storm of the season. Visited dad in the hospital as mentioned. Then went down to work to drive a couple of equipment pickups this evening.

Monday, I'm gonna try getting out early to visit dad on the way into work. Driving home the snow is supposed to be already hammering, so not sure I'll be able to visit then. tuesday, expect to stay home all day. Hope the power doesn't get taken out, life gets cold and inconvienent when the power is out. And, it just occoured to me, I haven't run the generator in over a year, so it probably won't work. Ugh. I got candles, batteries, and butane for the portable stove, and plenty of food, so we will survive.
