Murphy is laughing....
Oct. 30th, 2012 09:09 pm God, or someone, is mocking me. Throughout the storm, had a few power flickers, and one outage that lasted all of about 15 seconds. Went to work this morning thinking we were all set and just had to do a little bit of cleanup around the yard this weekend.
Nope. Something took the power out at home around 430 pm. Parents called to let me know about 530, just as I was getting ready to leave work. So, I stop at the stores on the way home, pick up some takeout food, batteries, and battery powered LED xmas lights. (those are, BTW, the best bet nowadays for backup lighting around the house. Something like 150 hours on a set of AA batteries.they even come with a handy timer that shuts them off after six hours, and turns them back on about 18 hours later)
So, I get home, ready to start up the generator and so on. As I'm unloading the car, the power comes back on. I suppose it could have been worse, murphy could have waited until I had gotten the generator going, strung the extension cords into the house to the fridge and whatever, then turned the power back on.
But I know he is giggling and pointing a finger at me.
