My old car, which I had given to mom to use several years ago when her car died had an unusual event Wednesday. Mom & Dad got into it to go do some shopping, and as soon as dad turned the key, BAM! The airbag deployed.

Dad didn't know what to do, so he called the fire department. They told him to disconnect the battery and call a tow truck. Since it was parked in our driveway, he consulted with folks before he had it towed to the buick dealership for service.

Dealership person on the phone when dad explained what what the problem was, "What?!" Further response was disbelieving, as "We've never heard of an airbag going off by itself like that." then the dealership after having *everyone* working there have a look at it, consults with their insurance company and decides that they will not do any work on it at all, as this is not covered in any of their procedures.

So, today Mom & Dad have borrowed my recently repaired car to go look at replacement cars. The car doesn't owe us anything. I bought it new in 95, and it has about 145K miles on it. *shakes head* added to this is the local gas station just r aised prices to $3.139 per gallon for regular.
So I'm out on the porch with my laptop, ethernet cable hanging out the window watching the birds feeding their chicks... in our air conditioner. Punishment for being frugal, went to turnon the AC for the first time a couple days ago, and it makes all kinds of funny noises. It's a nest full of baby birds inside of it. So, no AC for us this summer.
