I was at the wedding of a friend of mine up in Lowell tonight,
and coming back to the parking area I notice that my passenger
side window is looking suspiciously clean. Get a little closer
and yup, broken glass is everywhere. Bastard busted the
passenger side window on my little honda civic. He didn't take
the broken CB radio, or the car radio. Did dump my partly filled
cooler all over the front seat, so everything is soaking wet along
with being covered with shards of broken glass.
Looks like the only thing stolen was my little belt changer thing
with maybe ten bucks worth of coins in it. Had to wait nearly an
hour for the lowell police to come by to do the report. When the
finally arrived they told me that half the department had responded
to a call for a person being held up by someone with a syringe.
Adding insult to injury, the police officer said that if nothing
of value was stolen, there was no need for a police report for the
insurance company. So, tomorrow I get to go clean up the car,
look to see if anything else is missing, and go do battle with the
insurance company on getting my window replaced. Fortunately, the
weather-guessers are not forecasting any rain for a couple of days.
Driving home on a wet seat covered with broken glass is on my list
or expereinces that I never want to have again.
How to go from feeling pretty good to pretty pissy in five
seconds. It's just stuff. Stuff can be replaced.

*sighs*

UGH :(

Good perspective that "It's just stuff. Stuff can be replaced." But still, what a crappy way to start your weekend :( Did they knock the cooler over because they were clumsy, or were they looking for beer?

Here's hoping the weather-guessers are right for a change...

Nah, he ( I presume it was a he, I have no idea. ) had to lift the cooler up from it's nest on top of the pile of junk on that side of the car. It was blocking access to the glovebox. Glove box was opened, my briefbag had been opened and pawed through. Apparently didn't notice the bag full of tools in the back seat underneath other piles of junk. Biggest hassle is going to be getting the glass replaced. Last time I had this happen, I replaced the glass myself. Not sure if I want to do it myself or just pay someone to do it. I guess I'll see how I feel about it in the morning, what the insurance company says, and the cost delta from buying a replacement to having a shop do it.
