Another not fun day.

At least it was friday.
I broke one of my teeth this morning. while eating, of all things, some oatmeal. the tooth had been feeling off for a while. with 20/20 hindsight, I now realize that it had been wobbling in its socket. What came out was actually a filling on top of an old root canal. Which becomes important when it comes to the coverage for my dental plan.
I called my dentist, whoops, closed today. Called the emergency number, and explained my situation. In the afternoon, went to other dentist. he peeks in my mouth, asks me if I can eat, speak and if I'm having any pain. I say, yes, yes, and no. he sez, it's not an emergency, you have to go to your regular dentist for treatment. since he didn't spend but five minutes and used no supplies other than a pair of gloves, he sez, no charge for the visit. have a good day and don't forget to brush your teeth daily. Crap on a cracker, I think to myself.
I already know what my regular dentist is going to say, she told me last year during my last exam. Go to oral surgeon and have tooth extracted, then go to other specialist for a dental implant or a false tooth. Because I already had a root canal on the tooth, dental plan only covers something like 20% of the cost. And the back pocket financing company does not have two grand available to cover my share.
So, it's friday evening, I got this large empty space where I used to have a tooth, and i'm supposed to meet a bunch of folks for the monthly second saturday bostonfurs lunchmeat tomorrow.
I think I'm going to have to get used to eating on one side of my mouth for a while.
