Cars are expensive....

Took my trusty minivan in to the mechanic to have the second part of the brake job from january done. Carefully told him that all I could afford was $600. Called him after lunch. Yup, it was up on the lift and the brakes were being done. Cylinders, drums and pads all get replaced. Total ended up being $660 bucks for that.
BUT!
He sez. We noticed one of your wheel bearings was going, and you need to have that replaced ASAP. Okay, I sez. How am I going to pay for that? I only have $600 in the budget for car repairs. No problem he sez. You're good for it, Bring it in tomorrow and we will get the bearing done. Oh yeah, your power steering pump is dead, and we ordered a replacement for that too.
YIKES!
The next day, That repair bill is $701. Owtch. THere goes my discretionary income for march and april. *sighs* Anyone up for inexpensive fun around Boston?
