Nothing very earthshaking going on in my life. But more good than bad.

We had big family thanksgiving meal here. Had to clean up the house and fix the dining room chairs so everyone could sit and eat. I was very disappointing when the pumpkin pie went splat on the floor, and the blueberry pie turned out to be undercooked to the point of inediblity. But that was good news for my diet.

I'm cutting back on starches, eating more meat and veggies. The canteen truck doesn't come to our company anymore, so I have to bring my lunch with me each day, and that is cutting down on the size of my lunches during the week. Ive found at BJs freeze dried green beans. They are very lightly salted as they come. I sprinkle on a bunch of granulated garlic and a little more salt, and that is the snack I keep in the car to nibble on when I'm driving.

Learning to change my taste buds to enjoy black tea for my morning caffeine fix driving into work, replacing that can of pepsi. I also keep a jar of peanut butter at my workbench, and when I get a hunger craving at work, I eat a spoonful or three of that instead of hitting the vending machine for a candy bar. I think it is working, I had to punch a new hole in my belt today.

One of the bits of advice I saw for diabetic diets for folks like me who don't have the time/energy/interest in cooking proper meals from fresh ingredients. They suggested buying those survivalist food packets and using those for my meals. Preparation is pretty simple, most of them its just add water and cook. Then portion them out into microwavable containers for later meals. I had already had some anyway, as part of my informal disaster preparedness plans. So I researched a couple of them, found one that had a package that wasn't heavy on the starches. $140 and it's supposed to be 30 days of food for one adult. Got it in the other day, and will start eating from it shortly.

At work we have equipment rented out to about 30 Nutcrackers, bunch of Christmas Carols, and a couple of holiday pagents. Gear is flying out the door. Unfortunately, it will all be coming back around the end of the month, and much of it will need repair work.

We also got a new shop air compressor at work. The old one sprung a slow oil leak a couple weeks ago, and ran dry over a weekend. It was making horrible screechy noises. We added oil back, and it quieted down, but it was still making some screechy noises. SO the decision to order a new one came down, and installed the thing monday. The old one, we found a manufacturing date on it. 1955. That thing ran for sixty years, and only died because we ignored it because it never gave us problems. I can only hope this one will last that long.

January brings Arisia and Anthro New England. I plan on attending both of them, barring paying work. February is Boskone, where I am again running the con suite. Hope to see folks at the cons.
