Summer is arriving
May. 24th, 2015 10:22 amAnd it is time to make another entry here.
I am generally doing well. Lately I've had a sore elbow when I lift heavier stuff with that arm. It's probably arthritis, since both of my parents have that. It's not been bothering me that much. I'll talk to my doctor when I get my annual physical about it.
Most of my spare time and energy is being consumed by helping my parents. Dad is still in the nursing home, recovering from the lyme disease. He is ssslllloooooowwwwwwwwllllyyyyy getting better. Expect to be bringing him back home in a couple of weeks. The 100 days of medicaid coverage runs out June 15, so that is pretty much the deadline.
He still has the stomach tube in, eating pureed foods, cautiously optomistic that we can get the stomach tube removed shortly. He is mostly living on food by mouth, the stomach tube only supplemental food. wednesday he gets a prostate treatment from the urologist, hopefully will resolve his peeing issues before he gets home.
ONce he gets home, I'll have to do all their driving and errands. Mom doesn't drive, and dad is not capable of driving now, and I really don't expect him to recover enough to get back to being able to drive. So I'll be doing their shopping and so on.
I'm having a hard time locating a new can opener for mom to use. She doesn't have the finger strength to use our existing can opener, and current designs are all slim and compact, so they don't have enough leverage for mom to use. Google searches on things like assisted living swamp me with unrelated results.
Next weekend I'm going to the pelham NH pinball furmeet on Saturday. no significant plans for most of the summer beyond things like that until August. In August, up to maine again to work on the folk festival in Bangor. I'd like to go work on the national folk festival in Greensboro, NC in September, but not sure if I will.
