I suppose I ought to post here what I've been doing since Arisia. Mostly I was getting ready for Boskone. I ran the con suite for Boskone again this year. Which is actually a lot of fun and rather emotionally rewarding, but it is a whole lotta work too.
75 dozen hard boiled eggs. No, they were not cooked when I bought them.
50 pounds of cheese.
14 pounds of butter and 'buttery spread'.
12 pounds of cream cheese.
two boxes of assorted jams.
3 full sheet cakes.
4 pans of baklava
fifty or so pounds of pastry.
two pallets of soda pop and fruit juices.
six packages of decaff coffee
about 30 packages of regular coffee.
several hundred tea bags.
four boxes of hot chocolate mix
More fresh baked high end bread than I could really comprehend. Enough to cover a six foot table with a pile about four feet high, for each day of the con. (thanks Vicki. )
I resolved to take next year off from any position at boskone higher than gopher. So far I have allowed myself to be persuaded to do some of the data-entry work for boskone pre-reg, but as long as I am just doing data-entry, I can rationalize that as gopher-work that happens to be ahead of the convention. I hope to spend my time at the con next year relaxing and dealing some blackjack hanging out in the con suite.
Work has been busy, which is a good problem to have in this economy. But it has been busy, and I'm getting buried with broken gear, which doesn't look so good with my annual review coming up in a couple weeks. Crossing my fingers and hoping for a pay raise too.
Rainy spring so far, the river near my home is up near flood stage already, and we have a noreaster dumping a couple more inches of rain on the area this weekend. Hope we don't get flooded at the house.
Going to the mass restaurant association annual show tomorrow (sunday) to look for new stuff that would make the con suite better next year. May go to some of the sessions too, depends on what is available.
