Having a nice rainy weekend here. Well, until we actually went outside the house. And we notice that there are a bunch of wires laying across our yard, pinned down to the grass by a large tree that fell over on top of them.

The power, phone and internet are all still working, but the wires gained all the slack they needed when the tree came down by ripping themselves off the side of the house.

Since the tree that did the dirty deed was on town propery, we called the police to come out and document this. (We are in a somewhat sleepy suburban town, so the police do all sorts of stuff like this. ) They called out Nstar, and they had a guy with a truck here within an hour, and he disconnected the electrics, hauled the power line back up and tied it off to the anchor and hooked us back up in short order.
Called in the wires down to Verizontal, and they said that since our service was still working, and the wires were not across the street or driveway, that we might get someone out to work on it today. Oh yeah, they couldn't put the fios line on the troubleticket, so I had to call the fios trouble line to open a second trouble ticket for the fiber cable. I guess it's too much trouble to actually have an integrated trouble ticketing system for the entire company.

Next friday I head down to Virginia to work on the Richmond Folk Festival. will be there about ten days. So any of my virginia area friends want to do dinner or something, let me know. Last year, I was unable to send out e-mail from the hotel room, but I could recieve it, so let me know.
