Off to Washington, DC.
Aug. 5th, 2005 10:57 amLeaving for the Washington, DC area in a few hours. ( Car doesn't have AC, so I'm driving at night. ) I figure I'll be taking a nap in a highway rest stop down in Delaware or so. Thanks to Digit and his guest room, I'll be able to afford the trip. Hotels are too dad-blasted expensive. Gas is going to hurt a bit. Got two things I have to do down there.
Going to the memorial celebration of my friend Bobby Gear saturday evening. She was diagnosed with cancer in June, and died only a few weeks later. *sighs* It's depressing to lose friends like that. I already miss you Bobby.
The other thing I'm doing it taking a jaunt down to Gimbels Hill Park, in Richmond, VA. That's where the National Folk Festival will be in October. http://www.nationalfolkfestival.org I'm one of the electricians for it, and I'm going to be spending some quality time down there with a long tape measure and notepad figuring out stuff for cable runs.
Hopefully will have a chance for dinner with Sharky and Digit, and maybe visit with a few other friends down there. I expect I'll see many of them at the memorial, those that are not over in Scotland for the worldcon. Then drive back home, maybe Sunday night, maybe on Monday, depends on how busy I get.
