Well, the snow was actually last night, and it melted as soon as it hit the ground, but still, it ain't supposed to snow this late in the spring. I've been let down by global warming again. So, just in case, I'm gonna wait another week before I put away the snowblower.

My dad is still in the nursing home. Some days are better than others. Last two weeks have been bad. He got a UTI, which is now cleared up. Nursing home doctor finally wrote the consult for the urologist, after much badgering from us. He's been yanking his foley catheter out, and nursing home switched him to doing straight caths a couple times per day. Yesterday I took half a day off from work to bring him and mom to the urologist appointment. To my complete non-surprise, they found his prostate is swollen and that is probably what is blocking him. I didn't know that the nursing home doctor had already put him on max dosage prostate shrinking drugs.

SO urologist says, keep on the straight cathing routine, that helps train his bladder back to normalcy, and keep him on the prostate drugs. ANd schedule him for a cystoscopy (might have spelled that wrong) which is the same idea of a colonoscopy, but a lot smaller and you don't have to purge yourself out ahead of time. I'll be taking time off from work for that too, since it's way less expensive for me to take time off work than to pay a couple hundred bucks for an ambulance to transport him for routine doctor appointments.

We gotta get started on filling out masshealth paperwork for dad. Medicaid will only cover nursing home for 100 days post hospitalization, and we are nearly halfway through that. Hopefully we qualify for the mass health coverage.
