Annual review.

Had my annual review at work today. No surprises really. I didn't get fired, and I did get a small raise. I did the math, and to my surprise, I have just completed my ninth year at ALPS. This is now officially the longest time I have ever spent at the same job. It doesn't seem like that long. The second longest was the navy, at not quite eight years. Next year, I go over ten years and get another week of vacation time. Shiney!
I am reasonably happy with the job, and sometimes I get to do really interesting weird shit. Although my co-worker Richard has gotten me beat on weirdness on the job. He got tip money shoved into his pants while working fully dressed on the stage in a strip club. He was changing burned out lamps on the stage lighting on new years eve. Richard is a large hairy man. Think Hagrid from the harry potter movies. All he needs is the long leather coat and to remove the scrunchie to let his hair escape.
I also got authority to actually take charge of the workshop area. Half the company has need to use my area for various projects from time to time. That, and my own laziness about keeping things neat and tidy means that the place has been a dumping ground for all sorts of random things over the years, and generally a mess. I never felt I was able to take charge of the area and make it stick before. Hopefully this time I will. I have a few ideas for things. Gotta mark out a regular chunk of time each week for cleaning and organizing.
