more bad news for me.

Two bad things today. First I had heard that a friend that I had lost touch with when he moved to Maine. Sunday he fell or jumped to his death after being discharged from a psychiatric hospitalization. I will miss you Sparky. I wish I could have been able to help you before it got this bad.

Of less importance, but more immediate for me is the repair shop called. the estimate is for about half the cost of a brand new snowblower. I guess I am shopping for a new one Saturday.

Sympathy on Sparky's death. That's hard.

I need to figure out where to get a snowblower repaired around here to find out if mine is repairable at a reasonable cost. It seems like it should be...I'm fairly sure it's just the safety wire that's snapped. But I haven't a clue where to start looking...well, other than Google, of course. That will probably do the trick.

If the old one has a real carb, I might suggest spending the money. Especially since it would be half the cost. The new ones apparently all have plastic carbs and the ethanol in gas now is hell on them. Even using premium gas, the carbs tend to wear out and / or spring leaks. My garage smells like gas if I leave any gas in the new blower until it all evaporates.
