Involuntary day off from worktoday.

Finally, after days of downpour, we get a nice day, and the sun even came out in the afternoon. But, as I was driving to work, fully intending to put the car in the repair shop near work to have them look at the squeaky noise that has been escaping from the engine the last few days. The alternator light comes on and the radio gets a little quieter.
With lightning acuity, I realize that there is a problem with the electrical system. So I turn around and head back towards home and drive direct to the auto shop near home. get there, the mechanic opens up the hood, has me start the engine and in less than a minute he tells me I need a new alternator. Also he's booked solid for the day, and didn't know if he could get to it today.

So I leave the car there, and call my dad to come and pick me up. He brings me back home, and when I ask about borrowing his car today. No joy. Dad and mom have to be in court at 2pm to deal with the tenant from hell. So I called into work and left a message that I wasn't gonna be in today, and spent the day hanging about the house.

Repair shop called in the afternoon. Car is ready. Only 400 bucks. But no point going to work now, so ran a few errands this afternoon.
