Home from Boskone.
Feb. 17th, 2009 09:48 pmWas working at Boskone (www.boskone.org ) all weekend. Silly me, I volunteered to run the con suite again. It was a little easier this year, since the con suite budget got increased, I didn't have to pinch pennies quite so much, and was able to provide more good stuff for folks to eat.
I did have fun, but it was quite exhausting, having to be the first one up to start the coffee, and staying there pretty much until closing at 1am. On my feet nearly the entire time, so the feet were definitely making their unhappiness known throughout the con.
The con suite was actually just one central area in a large function room. Also in this room were the art show, dealers room, gaming room, dragonslair (kids programs), and the convention office. I did see, at least in passing, everyone at the convention, which is nice. The sixty dozen hard boiled eggs were popular, I'm considering increasing that to 75 dozen. Money is trivial, a case of eggs is less than $20. But I have to hard boil them all, and that is a signifigant time sink consuming lots of my free time just before the convention. Not to mention having to find refrigerated storage for cases of eggs. Usually I can just use the porch, as it stays cold when the outside is cold, but sometimes it gets warm.
I like the new space, despite the problems one inevitably has when doing stuff in a new space. Though I do have some ideas on how to lay it out a little better.
Hope everyone else had fun, even if you were not at Boskone.
