Hurray, winter has finally arrived here in Boston, after a fall that extended until nearly the end of January. My new years resolution has borne fruit. This morning I had to punch a new hole in my belt to accomodate my shrinking belly. Yay! I still weigh too much for the home scale to register though, so I don't really know how much I've lost, and after pricing the higher capacity scales, I decided to use my belt as my measuring stick. The diet is actually fairly basic. Only buy seltzer water, diet soda, and stop buying candy. pack a sammich for lunch instead of eating off the lunch truck. I get moterate exercise already with the day job, and working in a cold warehouse also burns calories. Hope I can keep it up, or rather, down.

In other work news, one of our lighting designers in our production department has given her notice. She wants to become a full time mom and a full time finish writing her thssis and get it defended before the deadline passes next month! Anyone in the Boston area who has a hankering to be a lighing designer for innumerable bar mitzvahs, weddings, and corporate meetings is welcome to send a resume in. www.alpsweb.com. Be aware that you will be the new guy/gal, and will get all the less desirable gigs for a long time. Pay and bennies are good.

Next weekend is Boskone. www.boskone.org I'm running the con suite, and I've already decided to forget about the diet during the con. I know my will power isn't up to resisting that amount of yummy goodies for the entire weekend. I'll also try to resist taking home all the leftovers for myself.

My ISP has been bouncing a lot of my e-mail lately, so if you try to email me, and don't get a response, try again or try alternate means of contact, such as my yahoo mail account, same name as here.

Ta.

** Edit **
Almost forgot my excitement on tueday. I had ordered some stuff from Graingers for work, and stopped in to pick it up on the way into work on tuesday morning. The graingers outlet is just down the street from the train station. I had to cross a grade crossing for a little used siding to get there from the highway. I've driven across that railroad crossing a hundred times the past six months to pick up stuff at Graingers.
Tuesday, I'm driving back to the highway with my casters, and crossed the crossing without giving it much thought. The lights weren't flashing or anything. *Just* as I'm bumping over the rails I hear a train horn off to my right. Not a long away mornful wail, but a *WAY TOO F**KING CLOSE, GET OUTTA MY WAY NOW* blast of noise, that left my ears ringing, even through the closed windows of the car. I never saw the train. I passed over the crossing without further incident, fortunately, I had visited the bathroom before setting out for work that morning.
Looking in the rear view mirror after I resumed relatively normal thought processes, I see that the grade crossing lights are now flashing.

I didn't need any caffiene that morning at work.
