Exercise program.

Well, I've started an actual exercise program, of sorts. Blue hills reservation is pretty much right on the way home from work. and they have miles and miles of varied trails through the woods and up and around the hills. So, today I stopped there on the way home and took a walk along old route 128. Just strolling, no time or mileage goal. But I got in about 1.4 miles in about 45 minutes. Which worked up a bit of a sweat, but not enough to make me breathe hard. Maybe tomorrow, a little further.

Initially I'm just gonna try this a couple days a week, and see how my notorious lack of commitment to exercise stands up to nice walks in the woods. Walks in the woods are way nicer and more interesting than running along the streets of my neighborhood or walking around the buildings of an industrial park.

I completely agree that the woods are much nicer scenery for walking! Plus the trees and plants guarantee better air with more oxygen. Sounds like you're doing about the right amount of intensity. Make sure you have good comfortable shoes!

Just wearing my regular work shoes, which are safety toe work boots. While one pair (I have three pairs that I alternate, makes them last waaay longer if they get a chance to completely dry out between wearing them) is getting a bit worn and loose, it is perfectly fine for walking in the woods. I wouldn't try to do any kind of serious running with them. And I also have a backpack which I have added several bottles of water and today, a can of bug spray, because the woods have biting bugs that like how I taste.

Today I only lasted about 20 minutes, but it is pretty humid today. Supposed to be better weather the rest of this week.
