ANd in the middle of a busy week...

The car breaks down. *sighs* I was driving out to Worcester to see my friends band and as I'm halfway through the next town, I turn on the turn signal and that starts my radio flickering on and off. Whoops. I turn on my brain and realize that the lights in the car are getting pretty dim too. Off the radio, and immediately commence return to home. But I didn't make it. Some kind of electrical problem, probably the alternator stopped making the magic smoke to refill the battery.

Fortunately, I did finally die at the top of a slope, and I was able to coast into the parking lot of a Home Depot store. I even got it into a legal parking spot there. Called my dad, and he drove out to pick me up. Left the car there for the morning. Tomorrow, I plan to borrow my dad and his car. Head out there with some jumper cables and try refilling the battery with magic smoke. At least enough to get the thing started and drive the five miles to the auto shop that specializes in electrical problems. Way, way cheaper than plan B... a tow truck. *cross my fingers*

More tomorrow. My plans for this weekend, up in the air.

I wish you the best of luck with the car - I've had my share of lemons.

The best investment I make every year is in my AAA membership. Since 1995 I've used that membership once per year or more either for myself or friends. I calculated it out two years ago and determined that if I had to pay for all the tow jobs out of pocked the cost of my AAA Plus memberships for Sean and myself are paid off until 2015. So as long as I keep using it year after year, I'm keeping that card in my wallet. Thankfully it works on any car I'm in - I've used it with friends, rental cars, my cars...but that don't help you now as I'm no longer in Massachusetts.
