Dad's health continues to slowly improve. He is now eating one actual meal a day, with the assistance of a speech specialist. Yay! When I visited tonight, they had disconnected his IVs. (although the catheters are still in his arm, just in case.) His speech is getting better, and his memory is slower in returning. He wants to go home, as this is something like the 40th day in the hospital. They still have him in the mittens whenever he is left alone, since they are worried about him pulling the tubes out.

So, work on getting him back to eating all his meals normally, so we can have the surgical feeding tube removed. Also need to get a urologist involved, as his prostate seems to have gotten messed up and is blocking normal urination. another week or so of the antibiotics for the Lyme disease, and I presume the anticoagulant has transitioned since the IVs are no longer connected.

Mom's birthday is saturday. Ordered a cake and told dad that he needed to be able to eat solid food by saturday so he can have a piece of cake. We will celebrate at the hospital and probably give the remaining cake to the nurses on the ward.

Progress. Slow, but steady.
