Found out some rather upsetting news yesterday. Apparantly his doctor at the hospital never bothered to contact dad's primary care doctor this whole time. Mom contacted him yesterday afternoon and found this out. Primary care doc was upset and contacted hospital doc and exchanged views. Hospital doc was then convinced to stop starving my dad to death (Dad hasn't had any nutrition since monday! ) and start feeding him via tube. WHen I was at hospital last night, the tube wasn't in. Nurse on duty told me that it was scheduled for this morning.
We are heading over shortly to see if this is actually going to be done. This level of mistreatment is very upsetting to me. I'm trying not to react in anger to the way this person with a medical degree is treating my dad. The pattern I see emerging here is of a doctor who is working the checklist and once he decides that he has finished the checklist he just allows the patient to die. I haven't given up on my dad, nor has my mom. Unfortunately my mom doesn't like to confront the authority figure the doctor represents. I'm most of the way convinced that it is time to fire this person with a medical degree and get a real doctor in the case.
anyone know a good malpractice lawyer in eastern mass? If this turns out badly, I want to sue, and the minimum I'll accept is removal of this person with a medical degree's license to practice medicine. So he won't kill any more patients.
