A somewhat delayed con report. I worked the con suite again, which I enjoy doing. It is emotionally rewarding to essentially run a party all weekend at a SF convention. I also rented some intercom gear to the con. It was really nice to have the headset (~$150) that went missing at arisia a couple years ago find its way back into my box of gear this arisia. I wonder where it has been the last couple of years?
Unfortunately, I went into the weekend short on sleep, and managed to pick up a case of con crud that has made this week rather miserable. *blergh* I'm coming out of it now, just in time for the snow to hit. Heading into arisia storage in a couple of hours, to try and dig through the piles of crap there to recover my missing coffee pots. I need them for the con suite at Boskone in a couple weeks. I would not be surprised to find that they didn't even clean them before sending them to storage. assuming that I can find them. they had been in the green room, which insisted that they had to have their own coffee setup. Since I guess it was too much trouble to go down the hall to the con suite and get some coffee there.
The usual overcrowded hotel problems. elevators broke down. Not enough parking at the hotel. Dealers row instead of a dealers room this year, which as a customer I liked, but I know some dealers do not. freed up the room dealers were in last year for a children's dungeon. The usual drama and politics within the convention staff, which I tried to ignore as much as possible.
Saturday I did my usual january furry fandom lunch meatup at the Fire and Ice resturant. 14 folks showed up, and we had a nice dinner and social. Unfortunately I had to cut out early to get back to the con. I think I'm going to try and upgrade it to a monthly lunchmeat. how does the second saturday of every month sound to folks? Same place, the fire and Ice in boston?
Boskone in a couple of weeks. Hope to see folks there. I'm running the con suite again. I've got a membership I can give someone for free, if they haven't been to a boskone in a couple of years.
