Boston Marathon bombing followup MIT police officer killed

Just woke up, in the middle of the night and hearing on the radio live feed from the ongoing scene in watertown, mass as a massive police operation is closing in on the second suspect in the bombing. One MIT police officer shot dead a couple hours ago near the Stata Center on campus. One suspect in custody there.

I pray for the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased officer. I hope that nobody else is hurt as this situation continues.

I fell asleep on the sofa shortly after 1 am, after I'd seen a headline online about the MIT police officer being killed and before there was any link to the bombing. I woke up around 4:30, and have been following the news online since then, backing up several hours on both Twitter and Reddit threads about the identity of the person I understand is still on the loose.

Just turned the TV back on.

This is utterly surreal.
